Always trust a professional with your home.
Rodent removal is a very broad topic for many reasons. When removing rodents, it is first important to identify the species. Are you dealing with roof rats, squirrels, raccoons, opossums, mice, ect. Each animal poses a unique threat to person and property, but there are a few similarities that are consistent amongst them.
All rodents carry a host of diseases that can be transferred to humans. Just a few carried by rats alone include, but are not limited to, hantavirus, leptospirosis, lymphocytic choriomeningitis (LCMV), Tularemia and Salmonella. While it is rare to contract a disease from a rodent, it is definitely not impossible.
In addition to diseases, and arguably more dangerous, the damage rodents leave behind is dramatic. For example, a squirrel’s front incisors never stop growing. Throughout their life, they must gnaw and chew extensively to maintain them. Roof rats are also major culprits in regards to chewing and gnawing. For most of us, our most expensive home purchases lie in the attic. This includes HVAC, plumbing, AC, electricity and so on. When rodents have free reign in our attic spaces, they have the potential to cause serious costly damage, and even house fires.
Removing rodents from your home (permanently) is of utmost importance. It is always wise to trust a professional with proven experience. Your home is very valuable and deserves intense care and consideration.
